A model for cost-effectiveness analysis of field scale sediment-bound phosphorus mitigation measures

Model for determining cost-effectiveness of farm measures for mitigating diffuse pollution from sediment bound phosphorus runoff from arable farmland. The measure options from the Scotland Rural Development Programme (SDRP) 2007 – 2013 that were used to test the model include: * water margins (2,8 & 20 m); * nutrient management; * extended hedge margin; * biodiversity cropping in bye-land & * arable land revisions to grassland or woodland. The impact of measures was estimated using simple equations, whilst costs normalised with net cost-benefit over time were estimated from gross margin losses or local data on grants. Costs minimisation for target impact was done using PuLP a linear programming algorithm implemented with Python programming language.
